This was a brownfield site located in East London, Leyton. The site used to be a car workshop within minutes from the completed London Stratford Olympic masterplan.
Our clients acquired the site with planning permission for a mixed-use scheme of 9 apartments and a ground floor retail unit, but the consented scheme did not work in terms of regulatory compliance, engineering and future maintenance.
We took the opportunity to rework the design by optimising the stacking of the structures and services, as well as improving the efficiency of the layouts, access, privacy, and daylight distribution. The changes were secured under a planning amendment application.
