Architizer’s Project of the Day

Pleased to see Elizabeth Mews recognised alongside such a great selection of contemporary architecture

A collection of 6 urban homes shaped around light, material and a generous communal garden, designed to foster a strong sense of community and encourage families and young children to interact and socialise.

The project transforms a previously disused brownfield site, formerly occupied by a pipe-bending factory, into a considered residential development within an established Victorian neighbourhood.

The homes use a simple palette of timber and carefully framed openings to create a sense of warmth and privacy, while allowing daylight and views to flow deep into the homes.

The stepped arrangement and carefully positioned openings respond to the constraints of the site, helping to optimise solar gain while reducing overlooking of neighbouring gardens.

We’re particularly pleased to see Elizabeth Mews recognised alongside such a great selection of contemporary architecture.
